Washing your windows

Using a strip applicator or large cloth head, wash the dirt with soapy water or using a window cleaning solution. Dishwashing liquid is strongly recommended by many. Liquid laundry detergent can also do the trick. Wipe clean using a squeegee making sure to wipe it clean at the end of each stroke with a lint-free rag. Remove any remaining drips preferably with a damp wrung-dry chamois. This type of cloth is great for soaking up remains and leaving no streaks. When washing multipane windows, use a handheld sponge. Use a smaller squeegee and repeat the process above.

Cleaning solution recipes

Detergent cleaning solution Jeffco Windows

1/2 gallon warm water
1 tablespoon liquid dishwasher
2-3 tablespoons of liquid laundry detergent

Mix everything up in bucket and spray your windows with the solution. For outside windows, you can hose off the solution and use a squeegee or leave them to dry.

Vinegar Solution

One part hot water
One part distilled vinegar

The acidic composition of vinegar acts on dirt and any film that accumulates on windows. Use a spray bottle or sponge to apply the solution. Dampen a squeegee to remove and make sure to clean only when there is no direct sun on the windows. Rinse and dry to avoid any damage.
