Renovating Your Business or Commercial Building
The glass is a critical element to every business and commercial building, but do you know the many different types of commercial glass that you can choose? You may think you can just pick any glass and that’s it. Well, we have great news. You have many different options available on the market to suit your specific needs.
Before you make the decision to renovate your business or commercial building, make sure you know what you need.
Four Commercial Glass Types
Tinted and Coated Glass
Glazed glass can be used on doors, which adds a very nice, sophisticated look to your building or office, while tinted windows will keep the building more discrete and cooler. As with insulated glass, you can save money on utility bills during the hotter months because your A/C system does not have to work as hard to keep the inside environment at a comfortable temperature.
Insulated Glass
The bigger advantage of this kind of glass is helping to keep your utility bills low. If you live in an area that has a colder climate, insulated glass is an excellent option for your business to reduce the amount of heat loss. Insulated glass will allow the sun’s light and heat rays to efficiently pass through the glass and into the building.
Laminated Glass
Laminated glass is normally used for architectural applications, where the glass could fall if shattered or when there is a possibility of vandalism and graffiti.
Skylight glazing typically uses laminated glass. Also, this kind of glass is often used in exterior storefronts, curtain walls, and windows in geographical areas requiring hurricane-resistant construction.
Another application of laminated glass is sound insulation, as it increases the sound insulation rating of a window or door, where it significantly improves sound attenuation compared to unlaminated glass panels of the same thickness.
Bullet Resistant Glass
Usually installed for security reasons, this kind of glass can provide multiple layers of protection, and you can choose the level of protection you desire. This glass is extremely strong.
